Audi TT 8J 1.8 TFSI (160 Hp) Coupe 14,000 km

Problem: Interior Noise

Handling, good highway cruiser, and comfortable on 19-inch wheels. Overall behavior is too sterile and neutral. Noise in the dashboard, surprising oil consumption (gauge almost at minimum at 14,000 km). Warning light on. The Audi dealership seems to be ignoring these reported issues.

Pros: Handling, good highway cruiser, comfortable on 19" wheels.
Cons: Overall behavior too sterile and neutral., Dashboard noise, surprising oil consumption (gauge nearly at minimum at 14k km). Warning light on. The Audi dealership seems to ignore these issues.

Audi TT 8J 1.8 TFSI (160 Hp) Coupe 163,000 km

Mediocre - TT 8J

Very flexible at low revs, with a nice chassis that tends to understeer (at the limit). Lacked some power, so had it professionally remapped. Verdict is more than positive: 210hp and 320nm torque (comparable to a 150hp 2.0 TDI). For 1250kg and a low center of gravity, it's a true little kart.

Pros: Very flexible at low revs, nice chassis that tends to understeer (at limit)., Lacked power, professionally remapped for 210hp/320nm torque., True little kart experience due to 1250kg and low center of gravity.
Cons: Rear seats are unusable for adults over 1m80., No major issues at 163,000km apart from wear parts., Exhaust had to be re-welded due to winter road salt.

Audi TT 8J 1.8 TFSI (160 Hp) Coupe Mileage unknown

Brake Caliper Issue

The brake caliper is causing problems. No other issues reported, apart from a broken sun visor clip (around €3) and minor oil consumption (1 liter per 10,000 km).

Pros: Timeless design, Comfort, Finish, Smooth engine, Excellent manual gearbox, Vehicle quality, Robustness, Consumable durability! (Rear tires 102,000 km, Brakes, discs etc...)
Cons: Rear seats (understandable), A bit timid for a coupé, Consumes a little oil (Oil consumption: 1 liter per 10,000 km)

Audi TT 8J 1.8 TFSI (160 Hp) Coupe 130,000 km

Corrosion Issue

Good sportscar with excellent road holding. It's on rails, a joy in corners. Decent trunk size, went on vacation with 2 suitcases. The electric spoiler that deploys automatically at 120km/h or can be manually activated. The car's design and lines are timeless. Material quality is very good.

Pros: Good sportscar and excellent road holding., Handles like it's on rails, a joy in corners., Decent trunk size, fits two suitcases for vacation., Electric spoiler deploys automatically or can be manually activated., Timeless design and car lines., Very good material quality.
Cons: Suspension and tires are too firm, very bumpy ride., Some parasitic noises appear after a few years., When it rains, water gets under the electric spoiler and falls into the trunk when opened., Interior/exterior halogen lights are outdated (easily upgradeable to LED)., Timing belt changed at 60,000km., Water pump failed at 110,000km., Window regulator mechanism rusts (known Audi issue, covered).

Audi TT 8J 1.8 TFSI (160 Hp) Coupe 119,000 km

Problem: Oil Consumption

Good overall handling, unsure if standard but equipped with LSD. Very low average consumption when lifting off (can reach 5.8L/100km, but easily goes up to 13). Audi Nav. Plus system offers good sound, though struggles with heavy bass (not Bose pack). Interior well-built for its age, chrome parts are good.

Pros: Clean overall handling, possibly with LSD, Very low average consumption when lifting off
Cons: Engine CDAA Achilles' heel: timing chain! Replaced at Audi with tensioners for €2000 at 110,000km. Luckily no engine damage due to immediate tic, Chain tic due to faulty tensioner. Second Achilles' heel for all TFSI EA888 engines: Oil consumption! Consuming oil since purchase at 93,000km, now 1l/1000km, 3rd brake light failed, easy replacement, Rear light units malfunctioning: undersized original ground connection, need to clean contacts (slightly burnt). To fix, re-do grounding, Driver's side window regulator not yet failed, but weakening, No parcel shelf due to broken fasteners (poorly designed original mounting system, fragile). Large 1.8 TFSI engine problems aside, generally a pleasant car
