7 Series F01 Road Test

Great car, fast and comfortable. I used the previous E65 for 4 years and plan to keep this one just as long. RWD, no x-drive. Maintenance is a bit pricey, but it was the same with the predecessor. Complete brake discs and pads cost 5700 PLN, oil and filters 2400 PLN, full insurance 5600 PLN, timing chain replacement 3400 PLN. I specifically looked for a modest trim level to avoid electronic issues, unlike with the E65. I didn't want gadgets, x-drive, soft-close doors, or powered tailgate. I wanted power and low, original mileage.

Pros: Fast and comfortable, Reliable RWD, Spacious interior
Cons: High running costs (brakes, filters, insurance, timing chain), Complex electronics can be an issue

Series 7 F01: The Long Way is the Only Way

If you're looking at the F01, only consider the long version. The comfort it offers is unmatched by Audi or Mercedes. Steer clear of the 306 HP engines; they are prone to bearing failure. The 245 HP variant is the best, truly bulletproof, just pay attention to the timing chain. Avoid the 4.4 biturbo at all costs; they're the worst engines BMW ever made. Comfort seats are a must-have. The 6-speed automatic is reliable but shifts abruptly. The 8-speed is smoother but prone to issues. Compared to the previous model, there are zero electronic faults. The Achilles' heels are the door handles, intake flaps, and EGR valves.

Pros: Unmatched comfort, Reliable 245 HP engine, No electronic faults compared to previous model, Comfort seats are excellent
Cons: 306 HP engines prone to bearing failure, 4.4 biturbo engines are problematic, 6-speed auto shifts abruptly, 8-speed auto is less reliable, Door handles are a weak point, Intake flaps can fail, EGR valves are problematic
