X5 e53

For 30 years, I've owned over 100 cars. I was a bit afraid of the costs, but you have to be smart about it – this isn't a car for drifting, high-speed chases, or off-roading. It's a car for normal people, and then it repays you incredibly. It's hard to find cars with better ride comfort for this price. With a skillful selection of good aftermarket parts, you'll have peace of mind for years. Even the automatic transmission, which everyone advises against, handles towing well. I bought it specifically for camping, and it...

Pros: Exceptional ride comfort for the price, Reliable with careful part selection, Capable of towing (even the automatic)
Cons: Not suited for aggressive driving (drift, off-road)

X5 E53: The Reliable Workhorse

I had E39, E38, E46, E36, and I'll say it again: if it has an M50, M52, or M54 engine and is used NORMALLY, this car will reward you with reliability. The E53 is simply a tank. Built like a brick, with a rather rugged body and silhouette - you'd be hard-pressed to find the luxury of an E65 or higher. But if you want something that will drive and work for you, any BMW from these years will be grateful, especially the E53. I drove almost 100 km daily on very bad roads – cruising at 130...

Pros: Excellent reliability with proper maintenance, Tank-like build quality and durability, Great value for a workhorse vehicle
Cons: Lacks the luxury of higher-end BMW models, Rugged design may not appeal to everyone

BMW X5 E53: Powerful, Spacious, and Tough

We finally wanted a car that was big, powerful, spacious, and could handle Wrocław's roads. And the X5 is it. I searched for half a year before finding exactly the version we wanted: panoramic roof, automatic, factory without intake flaps and DPF, low mileage. I paid for a nearly 20-year-old car so much that for an additional 10,000 (PLN) we could have had a new Kia Ceed from the showroom. We don't regret it, although 'Betula' is capricious, requires constant attention, and costs a tremendous amount of money. As of June 2022:

Pros: Large and spacious, Powerful engine, Durable for rough roads, Low mileage example found
Cons: Expensive for its age, Capricious and requires constant attention, Significantly high running costs
