X5 E70 Review

I bought this car thinking of a large, comfortable, safe, and spacious vehicle that would give me above-average driving pleasure. Overall, the car met my expectations. However, when buying an X5 or any other high-end premium car (A6, A5, 5 Series, X5, 7 Series, E-Class, S-Class), one must seriously consider that you might buy a great car for under $1000 initially, but it could turn out you need to add another '0' to get this car fully sorted out.

Pros: Large, comfortable, and safe, Spacious and enjoyable to drive
Cons: Potential for high unexpected repair costs

X5 e70

X5 is a revelation with this engine. Used as the 4th car in the family, mostly in winter due to 4x4 and incredibly fast heating, unlike diesels. It consumes about 16L/100km, which is fine. For me, it's a large SUV meant for dignified cruising, not sporty driving – I have an M2 for that. It's very comfortable with adaptive suspension, great even on 20-inch wheels. I had an e53 with standard suspension, so I have a comparison. I recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the V8 sound, but you'll need a refinery for daily driving.

Pros: Powerful V8 engine, Excellent 4x4 system, Very fast heating, Comfortable ride with adaptive suspension, Spacious and dignified cruising
Cons: High fuel consumption (around 16L/100km), Not for sporty driving enthusiasts

BMW X5 E70: A Robust 11-Year Review

We've owned this car since new. After 11 years of use, I have a full picture. At 250,000 km, the engine seals started leaking. This was the only failure, though in my opinion, simply wear and tear. I immediately replaced the timing belt, even though it was fully functional, and the bearings showing visible signs of wear. However, we're talking about 250,000 km. Now, after the repairs, I've driven 50,000 km, and of course, nothing is wrong. It's also worth noting that the 2012 model is the best-aging car in its segment. Nothing to complain about.

Pros: Reliable, with only minor wear at high mileage, Excellent build quality, ages very well
Cons: Engine seal leak at 250,000 km
