BMW X6 E71: Urban Cruiser

The ideal car for city cruising. The X6 is the one. I feel like people move out of the way. Previously, I drove 2.0 diesels tuned to over 200 hp, but it wasn't the same. This 3.0 diesel engine with 245 hp is magnificent. There's no shortage of power at any RPM. In city driving, racing a smaller car, it feels like you're driving a smaller vehicle. Acceleration is also good.

Pros: Excellent for city driving, Strong acceleration, Ample power across RPM range, Impressive engine performance
Cons: Can feel imposing to other drivers

BMW X6 E71 Review

I've owned this car since new. Zero problems. Earlier this year, at 220,000 km, I replaced the timing chain. It wasn't making noise, but the mechanic recommended it. So I did, as the car will be for sale. Hopefully, the buyer won't complain about the timing chain not being replaced, etc. I've also replaced the brake discs and the glow plug controller once. It's one of the best cars I've had. Compared to the X5, this car sits lower and is wider, which translates to better handling.

Pros: Reliable with no major issues, Superior handling compared to X5, Low center of gravity and wide stance
Cons: Relatively high mileage at 220,000 km

BMW X6 E71 Review: A Closer Look

This is my second X6, a 2010 facelifted model. Previously, I had an E71 with a 280 HP bi-turbo engine from 2008. I'm not sure if it's a matter of the specific car, but this facelifted, theoretically weaker 245 HP version drives much better for me. Lower fuel consumption. I've been driving it for almost 3 years and haven't felt the need to chip the engine. The pre-facelift bi-turbo had been chipped to over 300 HP, but it drove noticeably worse. I'm more satisfied with this current 245 HP version.

Pros: Significantly better driving experience than predecessor, Lower fuel consumption, Satisfactory performance without modifications
Cons: Pre-facelift model was less enjoyable to drive despite more power

BMW X6 E71 Review

I bought the BMW X6 E71 when it was 4 years old with 70,000 km. In 7 years, I've driven it 110,000 km. I'm extremely satisfied with the car. I switched to the X6 from a new Passat B7 with a 2.0 TSI 211 HP engine and a manual gearbox. The Passat was incredibly comfortable and had no breakdowns, nor did it consume oil, contrary to opinions on forums before my purchase. However, after switching from the Passat to the X6, I finally understood what traveling comfort truly means. The car is better than the Passat in every aspect. Perhaps the best aspect is the combination of the 3.0d 245 HP engine with the 8-speed gearbox.

Pros: Exceptional driving comfort, Superior to Passat in all aspects, Excellent engine-gearbox combination (3.0d 245 HP, 8-speed)
