Between good and excellent. I think this car was truly very good in its prime. Currently, if someone has very little money and wants a decent little car for a few years - 2, 3, 4 - they can confidently buy a ZX, but they should look for a reasonably well-maintained example from the later production years (they were produced until 1997).
Pros:
Good value for money, Decent for a few years of use
Cons:
Needs careful selection of a well-maintained example

Good, underrated car in our market. Rich equipment, innovative solutions (sliding rear seat, self-steering rear axle - considered unreliable, but in my opinion less expensive than a Passat B5 suspension). Only the single wiper and short gearbox might be bothersome.
Pros:
Rich equipment, Innovative slide-away rear seat, Self-steering rear axle (cost-effective compared to Passat B5 suspension)
Cons:
Single wiper, Short gear ratios

I'd give it a perfect score if it used less fuel on the highway; it's fine in the city. The car's downside is the wire basket under the car for the spare wheel. It's hard to fit a standard wheel there, and later this contraption bends and detaches on its own. A big plus is the handling: soft and stable, making it very pleasant to drive. Even a 300-mile trip isn't particularly tiring. Another plus is the galvanized body, which the competitor Golf 3 didn't have. It's simply a car for calm commuting, not for racing.
Pros:
Smooth and stable handling, Comfortable for long journeys, Galvanized body
Cons:
High highway fuel consumption, Problematic spare wheel carrier

I don't have fond memories of this car, but I wouldn't say it was tragic either. The gearbox and cabin insulation were the most irritating aspects. The engine can be overlooked, as not everyone needs a rocket. The suspension is also a matter of personal preference.
Pros:
Engine can be overlooked
Cons:
Irritating gearbox, Poor cabin insulation

A very comfortable compact car with interesting features. This was the Aura version with air conditioning, so the finishing level was quite luxurious for the 90s. Pleasant to the touch velour seats, sliding rear bench, and a 90HP turbodiesel engine, while average Astras or Golfs had 60, at most 75. However, the car's solidity was average. The next Xsara was much better refined. Failures of the central locking, stabilizer end link, stiff-shifting gears – and this in an almost new car.
Pros:
Very comfortable compact, Interesting solutions, Luxurious finishing for its era, Pleasant velour seats, Sliding rear bench, Powerful 90HP turbodiesel
Cons:
Average solidity, Central locking failures, Stabilizer end link issues, Stiff gear shifting

The ideal car for someone looking for driving fun without exceeding the speed limit. It doesn't rust, it doesn't break down, it stands out from the crowd, it's fuel-efficient, and parts are virtually free. Plus, for its class, the car is incredibly comfortable.
Pros:
Fun to drive, Reliable, no rust, Distinctive styling, Fuel-efficient, Inexpensive parts, Comfortable for its class

It's not exactly a car that grabs your heart with its beauty, but it has its charm. The longer you're with it, the more it grows on you. The spacious cabin comfortably fits five people even on long trips. The body is galvanized. Although there are minimal signs of rust, the car is 15 years old. The engine is decent, just right for a calm drive, but it doesn't like being driven at high RPMs all the time, as it consumes a lot then and gets loud. The biggest plus of this car is that it was very affordable, at the price of a Golf 2, and it has airbags, a sunroof, and power steering. What's missing?
Pros:
Spacious cabin, Galvanized body, Affordable price, Airbags, Sunroof, Power steering
Cons:
Not visually stunning, Minimal rust signs, Engine dislikes constant high RPMs (increased consumption and noise)

Citroen ZX 1.4i: My First Car, But No Fond Memories
Bought new by parents long ago, I inherited it from my father. Honestly, it was my first car and I learned to drive on it, but I don't have any sentimental attachment. The engine is incredibly sluggish and constantly having issues. Despite its small displacement, it consumes too much fuel. The suspension is definitely too weak, with parts like tie rod ends failing frequently. The rear beam is generally reliable, but the front end constantly needs attention. Engine sensors are failing one by one; currently, half or more are out.
Pros:
Learned to drive on it
Cons:
Sluggish engine, High fuel consumption for displacement, Weak suspension (front), Frequent sensor failures

Cheap car, but terrible. The only plus is probably the suspension. It handles well on the road, absorbs bumps nicely, and that's about it for the pros. The biggest con is the engine. Loud as hell. Runs unevenly, the body shakes as if it's about to fall apart. While you can get used to it in the city, I don't recommend driving it on the highway. It's louder than a Polonez. Even good car audio won't drown out the howling. Zero dynamics for a 1.4 engine. A Golf 2 1.3 drives infinitely better. Gears
Pros:
Decent suspension, Good road holding, Absorbs bumps well
Cons:
Extremely loud engine, Uneven engine operation, Vibrating body, Poor dynamics, Louder than a Polonez

Citroën ZX Hatchback
A very nice car for a calm driver, perfect for comfortable travel from point A to point B. The bodywork is galvanized. In my opinion, the Golf 3 pales in comparison to the ZX; I don't understand why people love the Golf 3 so much. Nowadays, you can find a good ZX from its final production years for about 2000 PLN, while its competitors cost several times more. While the car isn't particularly attractive – nobody turns their head, as it resembles a Polonez – ZX owners always wave and smile at each other when they pass on the road.
Pros:
Comfortable for calm drivers, Galvanized bodywork, Good value for money, Friendly owner community
Cons:
Unattractive design
