126p 'Maluch' 3-Door Hatchback

Probably not an automatic for these times, maybe for a 'Maluch' enthusiast. Or for a short drive after work. For commuting to school or work, I'd hesitate. For this price and such needs, it's better to look for another car. This car is only for enthusiasts or for short, occasional drives. I'd be afraid to go on longer trips.

Pros: Enthusiast's choice, Good for short drives
Cons: Not ideal for commuting, Not recommended for long trips, Consider other options for the price

126p "Maluch" 3-Door Hatchback

An excellent car for little money. Very cheap to run. If you take care of it, it won't break down. I recommend it to DIY mechanics because its simplicity allows for self-repairs. Low running costs: no oil filter, no water pump, no water radiator, which reduces the number of failure-prone parts and engine fluid costs. The cheapest 20w40 mineral oil is sufficient, costing only 5 PLN/liter.

Pros: Excellent value, Very cheap to run, Simple and easy to repair, Few failure-prone parts
Cons: Requires regular maintenance, Basic features

126p "Maluch" 3-door hatchback

The Fiat 126p - A car for the average Joe. Don't expect miracles. After all, it's the cheapest and lowest tier on the car market. I own an ELX model from 1998. I must admit I got a very well-preserved specimen for a bargain price. Generally speaking, you can buy a decent 'elegant' in really good condition for around 1200 PLN. It's a young car, rust-free bodywork, low mileage, economical, and reasonably reliable (the 'elegants' were probably...

Pros: Affordable purchase price, Economical to run, Compact and agile
Cons: Basic and unrefined, Limited performance, Small interior space

126p "Maluch" 3-Door Hatchback

It's hard to judge objectively, as there's nothing to compare it to; it's at the very bottom of the automotive world. It's worth buying a Maluch. You should look for a car with original paint, from the first owner, with low mileage, well-maintained, and sometimes you can even get a few boxes of spare parts. I would strongly advise against buying a wreck for 200 or 300 PLN. Such a well-maintained Maluch should perform well. Of course, someone might think that for 1000 or 1500 PLN they can buy a Vectra A, Astra, but...

Pros: Affordable to purchase, Potentially available with original paint and low mileage, Often comes with spare parts
Cons: Very basic automotive offering, Buying a neglected example is not recommended, Limited comparison points within its segment

126p "Maluch" 3-Door Hatchback

Giving it 5 stars because it was my first car (learned a lot) and I have a sentimental attachment. It started without problems even at -20°C, while other people's Western cars struggled. Very simple construction. It fit everywhere and drove everywhere (only got stuck once in winter, but that was due to my irresponsible driving). I did very little maintenance and unfortunately, didn't take good care of it (following the principle that a temporary fix is the most durable), yet the car performed very well despite everything. We even drove 8 people to parties, and it handled it.

Pros: Reliable starting in extreme cold, Compact and maneuverable, Simple and robust construction, Tolerant of neglect
Cons: Limited passenger/cargo space

126p "Maluch" 3-Door Hatchback

If I were writing this 30 years ago, my rating would likely be the lowest possible. However, given the ridiculous prices of "Maluch" today (though some are very expensive), I won't say anything bad about this car. It's simply iconic and a mascot of Polish automotive history. If someone expects reliability, durability of interior components, or rust-free bodywork for the price of a single salary from a car like the "Maluch", they should ask themselves that.

Pros: Iconic status, Mascot of Polish automotive history, Unique charm
Cons: Questionable reliability, Durability issues, Potential rust problems

126p "Maluch" 3-Door Hatchback Review

I've owned the Maluch for about a year and driven around 5,000 kilometers. I bought it as my first car, despite my family and friends advising against it. Nevertheless, the little Fiat positively surprised me. The driving position isn't as uncomfortable as one might think; quite the opposite – it's natural and comfortable. The close proximity of the pedals is annoying. Driving in winter shoes, for example, makes operating the pedals quite inconvenient. The engine runs nicely

Pros: Surprising comfort for its class, Natural driving position
Cons: Pedal placement is uncomfortably close, especially with winter footwear

126p 'Maluch' 3-Door Hatchback

Bought this tiny car as a project/toy to feel a bit of 'back in the day!' I bought it and brought this Fiat to an ideal condition. I found an original specimen from the first owner (born in 1920), sold to me by his son (a man well over 50) as the owner had moved to a retirement home. The Fiat is fully original, bought in Bielsko. I've perfected its mechanics, applied new paint, refreshed the wheels, and it made quite an impression on the streets. The car is as brilliant as it is...

Pros: Unique nostalgic experience, Fully original condition, Excellent visual restoration
Cons: Limited practical utility, Requires dedicated attention

126p "Maluch" 3-Door Hatchback

I bought the car last November from its first owner, who took meticulous care of it. The interior is practically pristine, save for a minor scuff on the steering wheel. The car even comes with its original service book, with complete documentation of all fluid changes and body repairs. The owner originally purchased the car in April 1998 from a Fiat dealership. It has headrests in both the front and rear passenger compartments, which are a godsend for leaning back during drives.

Pros: Excellent original condition, Complete service history, Original service book included, Comfortable headrests (front and rear)
Cons: Minor wear on steering wheel

126p "Maluch" 3-Door Hatchback

A semblance of a car – everything breaks, always. This was the only car where every time I returned home, my hands were dirty after driving it... I always carried a full trunk of various spare parts, which were dirt cheap and of terrible quality. To fix it, you needed a hammer, 3 wrenches, and a broomstick... No heating, candle-like lights, noisy, unreliable, small, weak, uncomfortable, unsafe, drank too much fuel, rusted quickly... A tragic automotive-like product. Never again.

Pros: Cheap spare parts
Cons: Constant breakdowns, Poor build quality, Lack of heating, Dim lights, Noisy, Unreliable, Small, Weak performance, Uncomfortable, Unsafe, High fuel consumption, Rusted quickly
