Mondeo IV: Engine Woes Outweigh Pros

Reviews for this engine on Autocentrum are largely misleading!!! I'm not accusing Autocentrum of faking reality!!! It's just a platform for posts. Some reviews of the 1.6 EB are written by used Ford dealers and salespeople to create demand for the 1.6 Ecoboost, or by owners/lucky ones who used these cars new and were genuinely happy. All its advantages - and there are many - were overshadowed by engine failure.

Pros: Many advantages exist., Potentially good for new car buyers.
Cons: Engine failure overshadows all pros., Misleading reviews from dealers/sellers.

Mondeo IV

It's not a premium car, but due to its size, it's very comfortable and more reliable than many premium cars. I had two Volvos (V70 and XC90) and interestingly, I've had almost no problems with the Mondeo over 5 years. Replaced the starter, battery, and some cables due to a marten infestation under the hood, but otherwise no surprises. The 140 hp is sufficient for this car with a manual gearbox. Very confident handling compared to VAG cars, where I felt a floating sensation in the Passat B8 and Skoda Superb.

Pros: Excellent comfort and space, Reliable despite not being premium, Confident and stable handling, Adequate power with manual transmission
Cons: Minor repairs due to animal damage

Mondeo IV: Nearly Perfect

I've owned this car for 7 years (produced in late 2014). If this model were still in production, I'd buy it brand new again. Whenever I consider another car, it's either too small or doesn't handle as well (grip on the road) compared to this one. You get used to certain standards. Zero breakdowns during this time, perhaps because I've kept up with maintenance, even after the warranty, annually at an official service center. Replacing wear-and-tear parts is cheaper at a private workshop specializing in...

Pros: Exceptional reliability over 7 years, Superb handling and road grip, High standards set for future cars
Cons: No longer in production

Mondeo IV

I've had the car for a very short time, less than a month, but let this be an opinion for those who don't know what to expect right after buying a Mondziak. Generally, I am very satisfied with the car. A family of 2+2 fits comfortably in the cabin, including a newborn. Here, a moment's pause - I haven't taken any long trips with the family yet, only a short day trip. The bassinet frame fit without a problem + additional items (bag with newborn necessities, 3 backpacks, and a few others).

Pros: Spacious cabin for a family of four, Accommodates a newborn and gear easily
Cons: Limited experience with long-distance family travel

Mondeo v

Comfort and convenience from Ford, powertrain with a hint of Toyota. It couldn't fail. I switched from the Mondeo Ecoblue, which I really liked. I sold it after 150kkm aiming to buy the same one with lower mileage to enjoy comfortable journeys longer. After analysis, tests, and reviews, I opted for the hybrid powertrain. It seems to have been a good decision. Minor differences in driving dynamics, slightly smaller boot, but also lower fuel consumption...

Pros: Ford's comfort and convenience, Toyota-inspired hybrid powertrain efficiency
Cons: Slightly smaller boot space

Mondeo v Review

A very pleasant and trouble-free car. I've owned it from new, driven 100,000 km. It's not a car for sports enthusiasts, but it drives very well. On electric power, there's blissful silence. When accelerating, you hear a characteristic whine that you can get used to. In the city, it burns 5-6 liters at positive temperatures. On the road, it depends on how you drive (especially on the highway). For me, the biggest drawback is the raised boot floor, which limits...

Pros: Smooth and pleasant driving experience, Quiet operation on electric power
Cons: Characteristic engine whine during acceleration, Raised boot floor limits cargo space

Mondeo IV

Super economical engine, huge space like all Mondeos. The original radio is amazing (meets all my expectations). Heated front and rear windows are amazing. A simple, cool estate car. 7 Fords in the family, I choose well, economical, cheap to run cars. PS: A small problem starts when going on holiday with 4 people fully loaded. It's manageable, but overtaking smoothly might be an issue. But how often do you travel that loaded anyway? I have no problems with it, probably good for the diesel engine.

Pros: Super economical engine, Vast interior space, Excellent original radio, Effective heated front/rear windows, Practical and simple estate car, Economical and cheap to run
Cons: Overtaking can be difficult when fully loaded with passengers and luggage

Mondeo IV

I had this car for 7 years, then switched to a new Focus ST-Line Estate and must say there's no comparison in comfort; the Mondeo wins. The car is cheap to maintain, very spacious and comfortable, with a fantastic suspension that grips the road. The body shows no signs of rust after 18 years. The only criticisms are poor rear visibility, noisy engine operation, and interior plastics that melted in the sun. If I were in my shoes 7 years ago with my current knowledge, I would buy it without hesitation.

Pros: Cheap to maintain, Spacious and comfortable, Excellent suspension and road holding, Rust-free body after 18 years
Cons: Poor rear visibility, Noisy engine, Interior plastics melt in the sun
