Hyundai i30 III: A Year On

The car has been in my hands for less than a year. I've driven 10,000 km, so I can say a bit. The 1.0 120hp engine might raise doubts at first glance, but its purr turns out to be quite pleasant, not too intrusive, and well-suited for daily driving (city/highway). Of course, it's not a speed demon, but it responds sprightly, so what more could you want? Fuel consumption is at a decent level. The gearbox is well-geared, though there's a slight jerk in second gear, you have to...

Pros: Pleasant engine sound, Good for daily driving, Decent fuel consumption
Cons: Slight jerk in second gear

Hyundai i30 III Review

Purchased at 35,000 km, initial impression was okay. Looks good. Downsides: weak radio, uncomfortable seats, long trips end with back pain. At 60,000 km, the engine light came on. After connecting to the service computer, the mechanic recommended better fuel and replaced the lambda sensor. The engine lacks sufficient power for trips to our mountains. Replacing front headlight bulbs is problematic. Wiper blade replacement should be simple, but this car requires fiddling through the appropriate...

Pros: Good initial impression, Attractive exterior design
Cons: Underwhelming radio performance, Uncomfortable seats leading to back pain on long journeys, Engine light illuminated at 60,000 km requiring sensor replacement and better fuel, Insufficient engine power for mountainous terrain, Difficult front headlight bulb replacement, Complicated wiper blade replacement process

Hyundai i30 III Review

Late this year, I switched from a Toyota Corolla XII Sedan 1.5 VVT-i 125HP, year 2022, after driving it for about 50,000 km, to the i30. The change was driven by my need for better trunk access. I decided the i30 Wagon would be a good solution. I travel alone 90% of the time for my commute. I drive about 120-130 km daily, mostly on highways and expressways. How does it perform? Well... compared to the Toyota, it's a drama on wheels. Fuel consumption at

Pros: Better trunk access
Cons: Significant performance downgrade compared to previous car

i30 III: A Solid Budget-Friendly All-Rounder

This is an affordable, ordinary car. For work or family if you don't have special requirements, but expect an economical, practical car offering decent driving comfort. In my opinion, the i30 delivers all of that. I believe, alongside good parameters and decent build quality, this car is very competitively priced, whether compared to European or Japanese cars. I've been driving it since the beginning of summer, a mix of city driving and holiday trips in Poland. Considering its class, I have no major complaints.

Pros: Economical and practical, Good driving comfort, Very competitive pricing
Cons: Ordinary car, not for demanding users

i30 III: A Feature-Rich & Engaging Drive

The i30 III offers a lot for its class and price. It boasts nice LED lights, attractive styling, wireless Android Auto, heated steering wheel and seats, a spacious trunk, and excellent handling. The engine is great in terms of power and fuel consumption, overshadowed only by its rather disappointing sound. The lane keeping assist is overly aggressive, attempting to wrench the steering wheel on narrow roads, potentially leading to an accident. It defaults to Eco mode on startup, which is sluggish and doesn't improve fuel economy. Starting the car requires a sequence like in an airplane: clutch, brake, then ignition.

Pros: Good value for money, Attractive LED lighting and design, Seamless wireless Android Auto, Comfortable heated steering wheel and seats, Generous trunk space, Engaging driving dynamics, Strong engine performance and good fuel economy
Cons: Unpleasant engine sound, Overly aggressive lane keeping assist, Unnecessary default to Eco mode, offering no fuel savings, Complex startup procedure

i30 III: A Practical Choice

I've been using this car since leaving the dealership, and so far, nothing has gone wrong. These cars are a niche product, and choosing a Hatchback means knowing what you're getting into. I have a family of 2+2, and it's fine. The boys were delighted from the start, but the other half was democratically forced to get used to such a stiff, noisy, and quick car. Not that she complains anymore. To get to the point, this car isn't for everyone. The rear suspension is very noisy (as if it were worn out in every direction); you can get used to it. I emphasize that

Pros: Spacious for a family of 4, Engaging driving experience
Cons: Stiff and noisy suspension, Not for everyone

Hyundai i30 III

The car is worth considering for a rational purchase, not an emotional one. It's not outstanding in any particular area but doesn't lag behind German or Japanese competitors, while offering a noticeably lower purchase price, service costs, and excellent fuel economy. The 1.0 TGDI engine is considered trouble-free by mechanics, especially compared to Ford's EcoBoost and VW's TSI. The multimedia system works very well, and the layout of buttons and dials allows for easy operation of all functions.

Pros: Excellent value for money, Low running costs (service, fuel), Reliable 1.0 TGDI engine, User-friendly multimedia system
Cons: Not exceptionally outstanding in any single aspect

i30 III: Reliability and Value

I don't want to jinx it, but in 4 years and 70,000 km, not even a light bulb has burned out. Everything works, ASO service prices are a dream, 600-800 PLN including oil, filters, warranty check etc. The 1.5 non-turbo engine behaves like any other naturally aspirated engine without a turbo. It drives great in the city, but on the highway when overtaking, the lack of turbo is noticeable and you need to build up a bit of speed. My only comments are on the delicate paintwork, the fuel tank, and the lane assist which can sometimes be inconvenient.

Pros: Exceptional reliability with no breakdowns., Affordable ASO servicing costs., Good city driving performance.
Cons: Lack of turbo noticeable during highway overtaking., Delicate paintwork., Lane assist can be intrusive.
