Overall, a very good car for a not-so-wealthy family. If you can overcome the stereotype in Poland about French cars, you'll enjoy a reliable, comfortable, spacious car with a large trunk. Because it's not a popular car among youngsters, it's relatively easy to find a well-maintained example. If it hasn't been in an accident, you won't have to worry about rust. Unless, of course, you get a car assembled in Poland; the quality of that assembly leaves a lot to be desired.
Pros:
Good value for families, Reliable and comfortable, Spacious with a large trunk, Often well-maintained
Cons:
Polish assembly quality can be poor, Overcoming French car stereotypes, Potential for rust if not well-maintained

Its only plus is that it's cheap... my phone costs more than this car! :) Its coolness lies in the fact that for example, if you hit the side of the car against a sign after a failed corner entry :) ...you don't end up on the curb crying that you just lost 2000 PLN ;/
Pros:
Affordable price
Cons:
Extremely cheap build and materials

Peugeot 405 i: A Decade of Driving
I've driven my Peugeot 405 for 150,000 km, so I can tell you a thing or two. I've taken apart almost every screw, from the front bumper to the rear beam. Everything breaks, but you get what you pay for. Almost 150,000 km in 3 years takes its toll.
Pros:
Reliable workhorse over time
Cons:
Frequent mechanical issues, Parts wear out quickly

Amazing car, I owned the STDT version, the highest trim. The Peugeot was from 1992 and had full electrics... fully functional! The car was very comfortable and very economical. For such a large car, it consumed just over 5l/100km. Indestructible, my example had 400k km, and the engine started in the coldest frosts, the body did not corrode.
Pros:
Incredibly comfortable and very economical., Robust build, no corrosion on the body., Reliable engine, starts even in extreme cold., Fully functional electrics, even on a 1992 model.

For a car in its segment, I must admit it's dynamic. The stiffly tuned suspension makes it hold the road excellently, yet it's not very comfortable. The gearbox is precise and pleasant, though it lacks a 6th gear. The equipment for its time was maximum and is still sufficient today. A few minor faults over the last 12 years is a good result. Machines like this won't be made anymore...
Pros:
Dynamic performance, Excellent road holding, Precise and pleasant gearbox, Generous equipment for its era
Cons:
Stiff suspension can be uncomfortable, Lacks a 6th gear

405 II: A Well-Preserved Gem
Examples in good condition range from 3500-5500 PLN. Don't be deterred by high mileage (300-400k km for diesels); for well-maintained cars, this is just the beginning. A cared-for example can last for several more years. Well-equipped models are on par with much younger counterparts, and the travel comfort in a Peugeot is heavenly. Considering the low fuel consumption, durable suspension, and affordable parts, it's an ideal sedan with a spacious interior.
Pros:
Good condition examples available, High mileage is not a deterrent for well-maintained diesels, Comfortable ride, superior to younger cars, Low fuel consumption, Durable suspension, Affordable parts, Spacious interior

A wonderful car for little money. Comfortable, fast, economical (with LPG), it offers driving pleasure and great satisfaction. If we take care of it, it will repay us with trouble-free driving. Great for families with children, as well as for the poor student (me). It is also very beautiful, a gorgeous body line. A work of PININFARINA (the designer from Ferrari). Besides, it's not just another Volkswagen flooding our Polish roads. People, you need to try other brands, not just Golf, Passat, and Fabia. It's worth it.
Pros:
Great value for money, Comfortable and fast, Economical (with LPG), Driving pleasure, Reliable if maintained, Stylish design by Pininfarina, A refreshing alternative to VAG group cars
Cons:
Perhaps finding parts for older models could be a challenge

This is my third 405 I've owned. Despite the opinions that have circulated for ages, promoted by drivers of other brands (especially German ones), this is a very comfortable, spacious, reliable, and inexpensive car to run. Finding a well-equipped example in good condition isn't difficult. Furthermore, the panels are galvanized, so if there haven't been any unpleasant incidents in the past, rust isn't a concern. The choice of powertrains is vast, from 75hp 1.4 petrol engines to over 200hp ones.
Pros:
Very comfortable and spacious, Reliable and economical to run, Galvanized body prevents rust, Wide range of engine options
Cons:
Perception of unreliability (unfairly)

405 II Review
I had two units and drove many miles in these cars. Pretty disappointing compared to the Passat, slightly better than the Vectra. The only plus is ride comfort. The torsion beam is noticeable, and the steering rack often leaks. The body doesn't rust, but the floor tends to crumble, and after removing the bitumen, it's usually more or less full of holes. The engines themselves are okay, but the ancillaries are faulty, and LPG valve seats can burn out – simply poor material. Performance in the 1.9 and 2.0 is pathetic for the fuel consumption. The gearbox is poor.
Pros:
Ride comfort
Cons:
Torsion beam is noticeable, Steering rack leaks, Floor can corrode and get holes, Faulty ancillaries, LPG valve seats can fail, Poor performance for fuel consumption, Poor gearbox

I've only had it for less than two weeks, but I'll write a few sentences about it. It starts right away, accelerates smoothly, runs nicely - a classic loud diesel, heats up very quickly, which is great. Atmospheric gauges. This car has a heavenly sofa, it's super mega comfortable to sit in. I thought the W124 and E39 had the best sofas, but no. The Peugeot 405 Privilege version has the best sofa! Very large trunk. The tailgate opens by itself at the touch of a button - genius! It operates lightly and closes silently.
Pros:
Starts immediately, Smooth acceleration, Heats up quickly, Extremely comfortable seats, Spacious trunk, Automatic tailgate
Cons:
Loud diesel engine
