Laguna III: A Kilometer Eater

It's very good. An excellent kilometer eater made for long journeys (you don't get out tired). Android Auto serves as navigation, the seats are comfortable, and there's no rust. The best feature is the all-wheel steering (4control), brilliant on mountain twisties. The 2.0 dCi engine runs beautifully. No major repairs, just regular oil, filter, and brake changes – okay, I did replace the right front driveshaft. Downsides: the trunk lid needed adjustment after 3 years (it started...

Pros: Excellent for long distances, Comfortable seats, No rust issues, All-wheel steering (4control) is brilliant, Smooth 2.0 dCi engine, Reliable, minimal repairs
Cons: Trunk lid required adjustment after 3 years

Laguna III: Great Value, Known Quirks

Excellent value for money. If you know the common issues of this older car, the Laguna offers a lot for a decent budget. Nice ride comfort, interior space, and a great design despite its age. The downside is very poor economy (fuel consumption). I bought the car at the end of 2021 and am writing this review in early 2025, having driven over 60k km. Equipment version is almost top-spec: Privilage. Known issues: EGR, creaking cheap plastics, turbo, very high fuel consumption for a 2-liter diesel.

Pros: Excellent value for money, Comfortable ride, Spacious interior, Timeless design
Cons: Poor fuel economy (high consumption), EGR issues, Creaking interior plastics, Turbo issues

Laguna III

For the honest money, it's a well-protected against corrosion car. In 11 years, 130,000 km driven. Replaced timing belt kit twice, complete brake kit twice, stabilizer link rods with rubbers twice, and the gearbox oil and upper engine mount once. Annual service oil + filters. Fuel consumption in summer: 6.3 to 6.7 l/100km in winter. Commute to work 12km. On the highway it easily maintains 140 km/h, even uphill at St. Anna on the A4. A record with calm driving is

Pros: Good corrosion protection for the price, Reliable powertrain with regular maintenance, Good highway performance, Reasonable fuel consumption
Cons: Regular timing belt and brake replacements needed, Specific part replacements like stabilizer links and engine mounts

Laguna II Review

A highly successful car with many advantages – a durable and dynamic engine, simple and comfortable suspension, galvanized body, good equipment, comfortable seats, and affordable parts prices. I've owned my Laguna for four years, covering nearly 70,000 kilometers together. The car has never surprised me with an unexpected breakdown on a journey, and it has undertaken many. If someone bought a worn-out, neglected example for 4000 PLN, it's no wonder they later complain.

Pros: Durable and dynamic engine, Simple and comfortable suspension, Galvanized body, Good equipment, Comfortable seats, Affordable parts prices
Cons: Potential for issues with neglected examples

Laguna III

Mediocre, and on the worse side. I've owned much nicer and better-built cars, even from lower classes and much older. Annoying trivial things are abundant. I've driven 18,000 km in this car (it currently has a confirmed 155,000 km). With the Laguna, there are many electrical issues, creaking, plastics of sometimes poor quality, and exceptionally fragile suspension. The car handles poorly. The Bose sound system is a joke. The car is a bit overrated, but then again, every legend has its flaws.

Pros: Spacious interior
Cons: Electrical problems, Cheap-feeling plastics, Fragile suspension, Poor handling, Disappointing Bose sound system

Laguna ii

I bought the Laguna spontaneously. I needed a workhorse that would be helpful for building a house and towing a quad trailer. I didn't expect much from this car. Meanwhile, it turned out that the Renault handled all the challenges I threw at it brilliantly. For a year, it bravely transported various junk and towed a trailer. During this time (apart from a broken clutch), no faults appeared. The car didn't have an easy life with me, and yet nothing...

Pros: Reliable workhorse, Excellent for towing, Handled heavy loads well
Cons: Clutch failed

Laguna II: Affordable, Comfortable, Economical

An affordable, comfortable, and economical car, ideal as a first vehicle. The electronics are generally reliable, unless you encounter rare faulty units. I experienced no electronic issues apart from the front passenger window. Mechanically, the 2.0 16v engine is highly recommended. The gearbox is decent. The right driveshaft bushing is a common failure point, causing towing issues on several occasions. Finding a good replacement part might be difficult. The rear beam rubber bushings wear out.

Pros: Affordable purchase price, Comfortable ride, Good fuel economy, Reliable electronics (generally), Recommended 2.0 16v engine
Cons: Right driveshaft bushing prone to failure, Rear beam rubber bushings wear out, Potential difficulty finding quality replacement parts

Laguna III: A Solid Choice in its Class

For me, one of the best cars in its class. It's spacious, comfortable, reasonably powerful, and well-built. It might be a matter of taste, but I really like its visual appeal. Fuel consumption depends on your driving style. On the highway at a steady 90-100 km/h with cruise control, it consumed 9l of gas. Normally, it's 10-13l, but with spirited driving or in the city, it can reach 15-17l. The car is a few years old, and I've driven about 10,000 km so far without any breakdowns. The 4Control system truly performs well; the car maneuvers excellently. Personally, I am very satisfied.

Pros: Spacious and comfortable, Reasonably powerful and well-built, Visually appealing (subjective), 4Control system offers excellent maneuverability
Cons: Fuel consumption can be high with spirited driving/city use, Older model, though reliable so far

Laguna III: A Wallet-Burner

I switched to this French wallet-cleaner from a 2002 Volvo S40. My brother recommended Renault, claiming they are reliable and enjoyable. We simply wanted something bigger than a sedan for our growing family. For 4 people with 1-3 year old children, this car turned out to be too small... I had the car for a year, mainly because it drives like a 1.2 but consumes fuel like a 3.5 engine – no power, no economy. I bought it for 14,000 and spent half that on repairs. A word of warning.

Pros: Spacious for a smaller family
Cons: Poor fuel economy compared to performance, High repair costs, Not spacious enough for young children, Underpowered engine
