Octavia III: Scout 4x4 Review
Scout version with 4x4 and most available equipment. Generally a great car, I'm very satisfied with it. Fuel consumption around 8-9 L/100km, on long trips can go down to 6-7 L/100km. The only drawbacks are: 1. Immediately turn off the start-stop system. You want to accelerate quickly at an intersection and the engine turns off, and by the time it restarts and the gearbox catches up, a moment passes. 2. Adaptive cruise control is generally very good, but sometimes when following someone on a curve, it seems to lose its grip and...
Pros:
Excellent overall car, Satisfied owner, Good fuel economy on long trips
Cons:
Start-stop system is inconvenient for quick starts, Adaptive cruise control can lose track on curves

Octavia III Review
I've driven various cars, including Passat, Mercedes, Toyota RAV4, and I admit, I always said 'never Skoda.' And then, it appeared on the horizon fully loaded—perhaps without electric seats and heated windshield. Nevertheless, it has Webasto, heated rear seats, and everything a driver could want (automatic parking, Keyless, Keygo, adaptive cruise control, Lane Assist, Front Assist, sign recognition, and many other conveniences). For me, it's a sensational car with great value for money.
Pros:
Excellent value for money, Fully equipped with desirable features, Comfortable and convenient for drivers
Cons:
Lacks electric seats, No heated windshield

Octavia III
After my Octavia I, I was looking for a spacious VAG station wagon. I chose the Octavia III. I'm the second owner, and in six months, I've driven about 10,000 km. I bought it from an older gentleman who purchased it new in Poland; it's well-maintained. It's a shame all services were done according to the manufacturer's recommendations (e.g., oil every 30,000 km). Overall impression after switching from the Octavia I is out of this world. I haven't tested every car in this class/year, but the interior quality is definitely better compared to, for example, French cars.
Pros:
Spacious wagon (VAG), Good condition (second owner), Much improved interior quality vs O1, Superior interior quality compared to French cars
Cons:
Serviced per manufacturer's interval (oil 30k km)

Octavia III Review
Overall, the car is fine. It has some flaws but also advantages. A definite advantage is the durable engine which consumes very little fuel. Additionally, it's quite lively for a 1.4L with 150 HP. The Style version has pretty good interior finishing materials. A minus is the torsion beam suspension. It's incredibly unstable on highways and expressways. It doesn't handle very confidently. Another big minus is the noise insulation, which is practically non-existent. It's loud, even very loud on the road at speed.
Pros:
Durable and fuel-efficient engine, Lively performance for its class, Good interior materials on Style trim
Cons:
Unstable on highways due to torsion beam suspension, Poor noise insulation

Octavia III
I bought the car with 272,000 km. The previous owner changed the oil every 10,000 km, and I do the same. The engine, for its capacity, is very dynamic and economical. At 3,500 RPM, the speed is around 170 km/h. The engine is very durable, no problems with bearings, head, or block. The timing belt is cheap and durable. The engine has no air flow meter, manifold flaps, NOx sensor, EGR valve, or Valvetronic, but it does have hydraulic tappets, which are ideal for LPG. Plenty of space, simple.
Pros:
Dynamic and economical engine, Durable engine components, Cheap and durable timing belt, Hydraulic tappets ideal for LPG, Spacious interior, Simple design
Cons:
High initial mileage

Octavia III: A Disappointing Ownership Experience
After a year of use, cursing, and mechanic visits, I'm sharing my review of this specific car and model. In a year of driving this vehicle and covering about 23,000 km with countless mechanic trips, I wouldn't take this car even if it were free. Why? A fault appeared in my vehicle that 6, if not 7, mechanics couldn't diagnose. This Skoda Octavia is the 2.0 TDI 184hp 4x4 model.
Pros:
Spacious interior, Good handling
Cons:
Unexplained mechanical faults, Frequent mechanic visits, Lack of reliable solutions from mechanics
Skoda Octavia III 1.2 TSI (105 Hp) Hatchback
60,000 km
Issue: Interior Noise
The car has a noticeable issue with interior noise, specifically road noise.
Skoda Octavia III 1.2 TSI (105 Hp) Hatchback
33,000 km
Problem: Air Conditioning
Qualities: Finish, trunk volume, silence, surprising flexibility of the 1.2 TSI, good road holding | Flaws: Front axle bushing, some hard plastics (but good quality), slightly weak AC, very impractical cruise control button, unpleasant stop&start (but no worse than on most vehicles). | Problems: Noisy bushings on the front left.
Pros:
Finish quality, Trunk volume, Silence, Surprising flexibility of the 1.2 TSI, Good road holding
Cons:
Front axle bushing noise, Some hard, though good quality, plastics, AC a bit weak, Very impractical cruise control button, Unpleasant stop&start system (though not worse than most), Noisy bushings on the front left
Skoda Octavia III 1.2 TSI (105 Hp) Hatchback
27,000 km
Problem: Air Conditioning
Supple and comfortable on roads and highways. Its size can be slightly inconvenient in the city (but I have a Zoe for the city...). Gigantic and very usable trunk. You can very comfortably travel with five adults, with all your luggage.
Pros:
Supple and comfortable on roads and highways., Gigantic and very usable trunk., Can comfortably travel with five adults and luggage.
Cons:
Air conditioning can sometimes be difficult to adjust.
