Bora Kombi

I have good memories of this car. As a sporty family estate in TDI ;-). Dynamic, comfortable, economical and safe. I had the Trendline version, reasonably well equipped. Solid and reliable suspension, good brakes. very good bucket seats, comfortable.

Bora Sedan: A Budget-Friendly Gem

This is my first car purchase, and I'm very satisfied so far. The price-to-quality ratio is excellent. This car has a simple, reliable, and inexpensive-to-repair engine paired with a proven body. Over about 30,000 km, I've had no issues, even though I bought it when it was already 19 years old. Average fuel consumption is around 10 L/100 km on LPG and about 8 L/100 km on gasoline.

Pros: Excellent price-to-quality ratio, Simple, reliable engine, cheap to repair, Proven body design, No major issues encountered
Cons: N/A

Bora Sedan

The car has been in my family since it left the dealership. Overall, it's a relatively simple and inexpensive car to maintain. There are occasional minor breakdowns, but for the most part, expenses are for wear and tear parts. Like any...

Pros: Simple to maintain, Inexpensive to run
Cons: Occasional minor breakdowns

Bora Sedan

This is my second Bora - the previous one was a wagon, TDI with automatic. This time I chose the sedan, manual with a gasoline engine - 1.6. I was looking for a cheap, fairly well-equipped car for local driving. The car performs very well for its age and mileage.

Pros: Good value for money, Well-equipped for its class, Reliable for everyday use
Cons: Basic engine performance, Dated interior design

Bora Kombi

Bought in Germany with 82,000 km. Currently has 189,000 km. Over these 6 years, I replaced a bearing, track rod ends, wishbone ball joints, injector fuel rail, and stop light switch. Excluding routine servicing (oil, timing belt, filters, pads), the car broke down for about €300-400. That's all. No issues with the dual-mass flywheel, injectors, or turbo. Complaints about these components are due to either a lack of understanding of how to use a diesel (cooling the turbo after driving at high...

Pros: Reliable (despite the miles), Cost-effective repairs
Cons: Some wear and tear components needed replacement

Bora Sedan: Average All Around

This car is mediocre in every aspect. It's overpriced compared to competitors and offers nothing special in return. Frequent breakdowns, peeling plastics, and small interior parts falling off, like cup holders and armrest covers. A major drawback is the high demand, making it hard to find one in good condition. For the same price, you could buy a younger car in much better shape. Honestly, there's nothing to get excited about, unlike what some people seem to think.

Pros: N/A
Cons: Overpriced compared to competition, Frequent breakdowns, Low-quality interior plastics (peeling, parts falling off), Hard to find in good condition due to high demand, Better value/condition available elsewhere for the same price

Bora Sedan: A Reliable Workhorse

I bought this car in 2007. Immediately after purchase, the turbo and pump needed regeneration. After regeneration, they have worked perfectly for 10 years (120,000 km). Additionally, the catalytic converter was removed. My wife drives this car to work daily, covering about 40 km. Simply changing fluids and filters on time is enough for the engine to reward you. After installing a chip, the car gained power, and despite only having 90 hp, overtaking even at 140-150 km/h is not a problem. I am satisfied with the car after replacing the glow plugs.

Pros: Reliable engine with timely maintenance, Good performance after chip tuning, Cost-effective daily driver
Cons: Initial turbo and pump issues requiring regeneration

Bora Estate: The Rare VR6 Family Gem

A dynamic family car. The Bora VR6 in estate (Variant) form is a rarity today. I've always loved its looks; unlike the Golf 4 and Passat B5, the Bora is simply beautiful! It offers a lot of driving pleasure, especially in winter. The first thing I do when snow falls is head to a parking lot, turn off ESP, and have some fun sliding around before I even grab a shovel to clear it! Generally, I never thought I'd own this car. I was previously looking for

Pros: Beautiful styling, Fun to drive, particularly in winter, Rare VR6 estate model

Bora Sedan

One big failure!!! From the moment of purchase to the moment of sale, over 4 years there were a lot of defects and breakdowns. Despite the car being serviced at a VW authorized dealer and having low mileage (I bought it with 107,000 km from a VW dealership), it broke down very often. Right from the start, the engine needed a rebuild due to faulty rings and burning over 1L of oil per 1000km. Ignition coils failed one after another, the electronics went haywire, the immobilizer blocked the car's startup about three times, and in subsequent years the alternator, thermostat, EGR, and every winter...

Pros: Spacious interior, Comfortable ride
Cons: Numerous mechanical failures, Frequent electrical issues, High oil consumption, Unreliable immobilizer

Bora Estate: A Reliable Workhorse

I've owned this car since 2009. It's the Trendline limited edition. I've driven it 260,000 km. For its age and mileage, there have been a few breakdowns – the previous owners likely didn't know how to use it. The turbo system, intercooler, and EGR valve needed replacement. Since that repair, the car drives very well. It's fuel-efficient but takes a long time to warm up, definitely not for short trips. In my opinion, the brakes, lights, and limited rear space are its main drawbacks. But otherwise, it's reliable. The 1.9 TDI lives up to its reputation.

Pros: Reliable 1.9 TDI engine, Good fuel economy, Drives well after repairs
Cons: Slow to warm up, not for short trips, Brake issues, Lighting issues, Limited rear legroom
