Caravelle T4: A Myth Shattered
A legend that's not quite true, a flawed car. It shares little with VW's advertised reliability legend. Seems like marketing manipulation of customers. The VW BUS Multivan with a diesel engine is a very unreliable car. Almost everything breaks. Problems range from the engine to the electrics. The 1.9 engine, while an old design praised on forums, is inexplicably not economical at all. Realistically, maintenance costs are too high. The service charges a fortune because, damn it, it's a 'super' car.
Pros:
Spacious interior
Cons:
Unreliable, frequent breakdowns, Engine and electrical issues, Poor fuel economy, High maintenance costs, Overpriced servicing

Caravelle T4 Review
I've owned this car for over 5 years. I drove it for a year in Poland and for 4 years on trips to Belgium. So far, it has never let me down. The engine runs great, the 5-speed gearbox is capable, though the car is noisy inside on the road despite soundproofing all panels, floor, and ceiling. It reaches a cruising speed of 140 km/h on the highway without problems. Maximum speed is around 180 km/h. Fuel consumption is excellent up to 120 km/h. I managed to get below 6.5l. With dynamic driving, it can consume up to 10l. The suspension is very good. The long version has
Pros:
Great engine performance, Capable 5-speed gearbox, Excellent fuel economy (up to 120 km/h), Good highway cruising speed (140 km/h), Very good suspension
Cons:
Noisy interior on the road, even after soundproofing, Higher fuel consumption with dynamic driving (up to 10l)

Caravelle T4: A Robust 15-Year Companion
I've owned this car for 15 years and know all its strengths and weaknesses. I've driven 200,000km. It handles everything well, depending on how it's maintained. If someone says it breaks down, they need a new mechanic or parts supplier. Suspension and engine are great. Beyond regular maintenance, I've had no breakdowns. Average fuel consumption is 8l/100km. It tows a 2-ton trailer without issues. I don't need to top up oil between changes.
Pros:
Exceptional durability and reliability over 15 years, Strong suspension and engine performance, Capable of towing heavy loads, Low oil consumption, Good fuel economy
Cons:
Requires diligent maintenance to realize full potential

Caravelle T4: A Reliable Workhorse
Overall, this car has served me well for over a year as a daily driver. I haven't had any major issues, of course, with regular servicing. Visibility is decent (I have the panel van version), but the most annoying thing about this version is the tailgate. Sure, it opens and closes without a problem, but try loading a pallet (the car has a payload of 965kg). Moving on – a huge problem is omnipresent RUST. Mine has already undergone two body repairs (including one typical repair).
Pros:
Reliable daily driver, Decent visibility
Cons:
Tailgate design hinders loading, Significant rust issues

Caravelle T4: A Dutch Gem with Soul
A car with soul, super economical. A Dutch masterpiece for 5 people. I drive on B0 diesel (no bio-additives). Fuel consumption measured on a full tank, repeated 5 times, ranging from 5.6 to 6.4 L/100km. Shocking, almost unbelievable, yet true. It's never let me down, despite being 23 years old. Imported from Holland in perfect condition. I've owned 5 T4s in total, but never one in this state. The 88 HP engine might be weak for motorways, but you can easily reach 120 km/h. The 5-gear transmission is a bit short; at 3000 RPM it's 125 km/h. Overall, a brilliant car. The lack of AC is a drawback, as are the weak brakes.
Pros:
Incredibly economical, Reliable despite age, Excellent condition, Comfortable for 5 people
Cons:
Weak brakes, No air conditioning, Engine underpowered for highways
