Touran III
A very correct family car (2+2), driven over 60,000 km without any problems. The car is typically VW - if you know one, you'll feel at home in any car from this group. The Touran drives correctly, doesn't surprise, and dampens unevenness quite well. Initially, the car creaked around the dashboard - but it quickly 'settled down' after a few months. The 150HP diesel with a manual gearbox is a very good combination. The engine is very dynamic and flexible, even with a full load.
Pros:
Reliable family car, Good handling and comfort, Dynamic and flexible engine, Good value VW group car
Cons:
Initial dashboard creaks

Touran III: Spacious and Practical Family MPV
A very practical and comfortable car. The engineers have managed to create an incredibly practical interior. I'm quite tall (191cm) and my son is also around that height, and he can easily sit behind me for a 14-hour trip to Austria. I was looking for a car with a large carrying capacity to transport 4 bikes on the hitch and holiday luggage with a roof box. I found the Touran and I don't regret it; it performs its duties flawlessly. The sheer number of storage compartments can sometimes be a headache because you can forget where you've hidden things!
Pros:
Incredibly practical interior, Spacious, even for tall passengers, Excellent for carrying bikes and luggage, Comfortable for long journeys
Cons:
Abundant storage can lead to forgotten items

Touran III
Why did I buy this? For me, it's a piece of junk. Quick thoughts: in the morning, the engine rattles so much it's embarrassing. A Kia Ceed at this TDI sounds like an electric car, hahaha. The interior is awful stylistically. The design must be 15 years old. Someone from Schmelcawagen marketing should try a competitor's car. Materials are very cheap; wear and tear is already visible on the steering wheel and plastics. Weak LED lights, especially in the rain, I can barely see. It rattles over potholes because the suspension is somehow hard.
Pros:
Interior design considered okay by some.
Cons:
Noisy engine at startup., Outdated interior styling., Cheap, easily worn materials., Poor LED headlights visibility., Harsh ride over bumps.

Touran i: A Smart Family Van
A very nice family minivan. Lots of space, a well-thought-out interior, and excellent ergonomics. All this in a surprisingly compact size. Drives very well. The 1.9 engine (105HP) is probably the minimum for this car. It's not a sports car, but it's capable and certainly not slow. It could be better sound-insulated, as there's noise at highway speeds, likely due to the shape and the diesel engine.
Pros:
Spacious interior, Practical and ergonomic design, Good handling, Compact exterior dimensions
Cons:
Engine could be underpowered for some, Road noise at highway speeds

Touran i: A Surprisingly Practical Choice
I never expected to buy a VW. I was considering the Toyota Corolla Verso or Dacia Lodgy, but then the Touran i appeared in my area, and it was LPG! Well, space, visibility, comfort – all can be praised from the outset. Despite the LPG installation, there's still plenty of trunk space, which isn't the norm. Japanese and Korean brands usually have trunks around 500 liters, while the Touran has about 650 liters, despite its not-so-large external dimensions. The engine is slow and sips fuel if you push it. A car for a calm driver.
Pros:
Spacious interior with excellent visibility and comfort., Generous trunk space, even with LPG., Practical for everyday use.
Cons:
Underpowered engine, especially when pushed., High fuel consumption if driven aggressively.

Touran i: Spacious but Flawed
A car with the dimensions of a regular passenger car, yet you sit much higher. It's spacious and can take 7 people. Unfortunately, persistent serious breakdowns and significant corrosion issues prevent enjoyment. In my opinion, for a family car, the suspension is too stiff. I have the Bluemotion version with longer gear ratios, allowing for consumption below 5L on the road with six people on board, which is a very good result. The pre-heater is useful in winter.
Pros:
Spacious interior with 7-seat option, High driving position, Excellent fuel economy with Bluemotion
Cons:
Frequent and serious mechanical failures, Significant corrosion problems, Stiff suspension
Volkswagen Touran I 1.6 FSI (115 Hp) Minivan
185,000 km
Problem: Battery
Qualities: Very robust 1600cc engine with an indestructible chain drive. Proven technology before downsizing. Bought from the first owner in 2014, so at 10 years old, no mechanical issues. Replaced battery, spark plugs, and ignition coils, otherwise nothing. It's not a rocket, but it's more than enough and the driving pleasure is very satisfactory. Consumption is reasonable as long as you don't push it: mainly by using expressways and a bit of city driving, I am
Pros:
Very robust 1600cc engine with an indestructible chain drive., Proven technology before downsizing., Bought from first owner in 2014 (10 years old), no mechanical issues.
Cons:
Interior trim could be improved, plastics not very durable.

Problem: Gearbox
Gearbox failure. The car is 5 years old but has low mileage (49,500 km). The gearbox broke this summer. Volkswagen was contacted, but offered no goodwill gesture.

Issue: Power Window
The power window has an issue. Otherwise, the engine is silent, the finishes are good, and forward visibility is excellent. The manual gearbox is also very pleasant to use.
Pros:
Engine silence, Good finishes, Very good forward vision, Very pleasant manual gearbox
Cons:
Rear window washer not great, Cabin filter not very effective in the city, Rear seatbelts hit rear doors
Volkswagen Touran I 1.6 (102 Hp) Minivan
50,000 km
Problem: Gearbox
Despite the practical 7-seater configuration and clever interior storage, the vehicle suffers from a serious lack of reliability. The gearbox broke at a very low 49,500 km. Upon contacting customer service for a contribution to repair costs, I received a brief, unhelpful two-sentence reply stating the vehicle was out of warranty (by a year) and a polite closing. This is despite diligently maintaining all services within the VW network. Subsequent attempts to follow up went unanswered.
Pros:
Practical 7-seater layout, Ample interior storage solutions
Cons:
Poor overall reliability, Gearbox failed at 49,500 km. Customer service was unhelpful regarding warranty despite regular servicing.
